addiClean - comb for pills and fibre knots

The cashmere sweater you worked on for two months goes bobbly after the third wearing. It is not a knitting mistake and not bad yarn: short fibres work their way to the surface and curl up. The addiClean comb cuts them off at the base without touching the yarn the garment is made of.

The blade is brass, with fine teeth along its whole length. Run it lightly over the fabric, in one direction, without pressing. Pressing is the mistake that breaks good yarn. On cashmere and mohair go gentler still, a short pass is enough.

It is the size of a credit card and fits in any bag, so it does not have to live at home. It comes with short instructions in an organza pouch.

Frequently asked questions

Will it damage the knit?
Not if you do not press. The comb only cuts the pills that have come to the surface, not the yarn in the structure of the fabric. Pass it lightly and in one direction.

Does it work on alpaca or synthetic blends?
Yes. Long fibres like alpaca pill less anyway. On acrylic blends the pills are harder and need a few more passes.

How do I clean it?
Shake it out or wipe the lint off the blade with a finger, away from the teeth. It needs no water.
