Gleener Compact - fabric shaver and lint brush with three edges

Not every fabric wants the same treatment, and that is the difference from an ordinary shaver. Gleener Compact comes with three interchangeable edges: a fine one for cashmere and delicate knits, a medium one for wool and blends, a firm one for heavy cotton, denim and upholstery. You pick the edge to suit the fabric, instead of forcing the fabric to survive a single one.

There are no batteries, no motor and no cutting blades. It works from the movement of your hand, so the classic accident cannot happen, the one where the device bites into the knit. On the lid there is also a brush that lifts pet hair and the lint left behind after the edge has done its work.

The edges store inside the body, so you do not lose them in a drawer. The whole thing is smaller than a glasses case and fits in a bag or a project tote.

Which edge do I use on a cashmere sweater?
The fine one, with short strokes. Cashmere has a short fibre and objects quickly to pressure. Keep the firm edge for denim, heavy blankets and the sofa.

Why is this better than an electric shaver?
It has no rotating blades, so it cannot cut into the knit if you slip. And it does not depend on batteries, which matters for something you use a few times a year.

Can I buy replacement edges?
Yes, Gleener sells them separately. The ones in the pack last a long time though, because they do not go blunt the way a razor does.
