To enjoy the pieces you create for as long as possible, here are a few tips and recommendations.
Washing
Hand wash, max. 30°C, with a wool-specific detergent. Avoid harsh rubbing and prolonged soaking.
Drying
Dry flat, gently shaping the piece back to its original form. Avoid the tumble dryer, direct sunlight and heat sources.
Avoid
- Bleach or harsh products
- Wringing by twisting
- Hanging on a hanger
Maintenance & storage
- Air out after wearing — washing after every use is not necessary
- Store folded, in a dry place
- For long-term storage, use lavender or cedar
Care by fibre type
Natural wool (Merino, Alpaca)
Hand wash or wool cycle, max. 30°C, with an enzyme-free detergent. Do not rub or wring — press gently to remove water, then dry flat.
Mohair & delicate yarns
Hand wash in cold water, max. 20°C. Submerge gently, without rubbing. Rinse at the same temperature — sudden changes can cause felting.
What to do if...
Pilling appears
Pilling is normal with natural fibres. Remove it with a fabric shaver, moving gently across the surface of the piece.
The piece lost its shape after washing
While it is still damp, shape it by hand and let it dry flat. Wet wool is flexible and will take the shape you give it.
Fresh stains
Dab (do not rub!) with a clean cloth and cold water. For stubborn stains, apply wool detergent directly to the stain, leave for 15 minutes, then wash.
Unpleasant odour
Air out for a few hours in fresh air, away from the sun. Natural wool has antibacterial properties — airing is often enough.
